MICHAEL Enfield's injury blues have struck again with the Sydney FC midfielder set to miss the start of the A-League season.
The former LA Galaxy midfielder was working towards a return to action after undergoing a left knee reconstruction late last year.
However, an arthroscope has now revealed cartilage damage in the same knee that could see Enfield sidelined for up to 12 weeks.
He will begin treatment for his injury immediately, with the club planning to bring in a short-term replacement for the 24-year-old.
Brendon Santalab is the club's only other injury concern at present. He suffered a quad strain at training last week and will miss Thursday’s trial against state side Sutherland.
Coach John Kosmina is looking to build on last week's goalless draw with Blacktown City Demons.
He told his club's official website: "We’d only started practising football stuff the day before we played the Demons so I was happy with the performance.
"If we can build on that this Thursday I think we’ll be in good shape leading up to the Pre-Season Cup.”
