NORTH Queensland Fury have extended the stay of defender Ramazan Tavsancioglu for a further three weeks to cover the injury to Osama Malik.
The 26-year-old Melbournian, originally joined the Fury on November 18 as injury replacement for Eric Akoto, who was ruled out of football until Boxing Day with a torn meniscus and medical ligament damage.
Earlier this week, the Fury received the news that utility player, Osama Malik, could be out for up to 6 weeks with a grade two tear to his left hamstring and with the Fury's busy schedule showing no sign of easing, the Club has signed Ramazan on further short-term injury replacement contract, this time for Malik.
This new arrangement will run from 27 December 2010 until and including 15 January 2011.
Since joining the Fury in mid November, Tavsancioglu has made six (6) appearances for the Fury and has started the last two matches against Brisbane Roar (18 Dec) and Central Coast Mariners (22 Dec).
Speaking about this extension, Fury Football Operations Manager Robbie Middleby said; "Ramazan has been an excellent signing for us and although Osama will be sorely missed over the next month or so, we are lucky to have someone like Rama to call upon in this situation.
"Rama has fitted in perfectly since his arrival in November. He trains hard, is a versatile player and has a great attitude both on and off the field.
"We have been struggling with injuries of late and Rama has been given the opportunity to start the last two matches and was one of our best players against Central Coast, so the coaching staff feel confident that he will be able to cover the void left in the squad by the injured Osama."
