Kwasnik ended a lengthy dry spell with his goal in the 2-1 defeat by the Jets at EnergyAustralia Stadium last week.

McKinna hopes that goal will give the 26-year-old the confidence to unleash more goals - starting with this weekend's clash against Adelaide United in Canberra.

"It was great to see Kwas put that one away in Newcastle," McKinna told au.fourfourtwo.com. "I have always believed the boy has goals in him.

"Hopefully that will have given him a boost and he can go on now and add to that goal. He is one of the best finishers we have in training and the challenge for him now is to take that off the training field and convert it in a match situation.

"It's about taking the opportunities when they come along and the goal in Newcastle was a great finish."

McKinna's team has been hailed for their defensive sharpness this season but McKinna believes the signs are positive at the other end of the pitch as well.

He added: "Kwas got off the mark with his goal and to be honest I think Matty Simon is getting stronger and stronger every week."
