The New Zealand international suffered the knock in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Mariners, with scans on Tuesday revealing a grade one ankle sprain.

Moss is also likely to miss the club's midweek clash with North Queensland Fury on Wednesday, December 1 at Skilled Park.

The injury is a severe blow for Gold Coast and also Moss, who has been in sensational form this season and a major reason why Miron Bleiberg's side boast the best defensive record in the league.

But after initially fearing the worst, Moss was pleased to hear that he won’t be out of action for too long.

"When I came off the field I was told that my ankle could be broken, so to find out that it’s a sprain is a massive relief," he said.

"Friday's game is a big one for us and I'm disappointed not to be playing, but to know that there’s nothing broken in and around my ankle is very reassuring and I’ll be back in action soon.

"Hopefully I can recover quickly and go close to being ready for the Fury game next Wednesday. I’ll be getting plenty of treatment on it and we’ll see how I am around Monday next week."

Veteran keeper Scott Higgins will replace Moss between the sticks for his first senior appearance of the season.
