INTER Milan coach Jose Mourinho has dismissed reports linking him to Manchester City.
City are currently managed by Mark Hughes but their United Arab Emirates-based owners are rumoured to want a bigger name in charge, with Mourinho their number one choice.
However, the former Chelsea coach has laughed off suggestions he could be set to leave Inter only a few months after arriving at the San Siro.
"No, no, my contract is here at Inter," he said. "I am happy here and as long as the president (Massimo) Moratti and the club are happy, there's no problem with me.
"You can't talk about ifs and buts - that's make believe. Everyone knows my situation, I have a contract here until 2011, I am happy, I'm doing my job.
"If one day I'm not happy anymore I'll say so immediately and I think the president would do the same."
All the talk in Manchester over the past few days has been about City's world record-breaking bid for AC Milan star Kaka.
Mourinho hopes the cash-rich club do not come in for any of his players, but admits he would be powerless to prevent Inter from accepting a bid.
"I don't know what would happen if Inter received a huge offer," he said. "But I like having all the best players here.
"When I was in England I was fiercely proud of my contribution and that the Premiership was the league with the best players. Now I am here in Italy I want to do the same.
"But it's Kaka's life, he's a Milan player and they have to decide.
"I'm not worried about City because in this club the president and his staff make the transfer decisions. I'm outside all that, when decisions are about economics it's better to be away from it all.
"Of course all other players have the 'risk', in speech marks, that Manchester City comes and values their potential, but I say in speech marks because it can only be good for someone to receive so much money and those kind of offers."
Sir Alex Ferguson, manager of City's cross-town rivals Manchester United, admitted yesterday he was "stunned" by the news.
And Mourinho claims his old foe, who he faces in the Champions League next month, is running scared.
"What can we do if someone accepts it or doesn't?" he continued. "When I was at Chelsea, two or three months after my arrival we were first and Manchester United, Liverpool and other teams understood that there was another horse in the race.
"It's a problem for the clubs who are at the top and don't want another one among them.
"I can understand that Manchester United, kings of the city, don't think well of Robinho, the possible arrival of Kaka and maybe another player in the summer to City.
"But for me it's not a problem. It seems fantastic to me that a four-horse race could become five."
Inter have been linked to several players this winter, with the English media claiming Tottenham players Jermaine Jenas and Gareth Bale are top of Mourinho's list.
However, while the Portuguese coach claims he is a fan of the duo he has dismissed speculation of a possible bid as nonsense.
"It's an interesting story," said Mourinho. "Last July the Daily Telegraph started their fantasy football league, they contracted me to take part and paid me.
"In my ideal squad I put Jenas and Bale and others. In July. Now, six months later, the transfer market has reopened and it comes out that I like these players.
"It's true, I like them otherwise I wouldn't have put them in my squad, but that's a transfer market without rules.
"It seems to me that someone wants a player from Inter and seeing that they know I like another player, they've brought out this story."
