Vidosic has had a disappointing start to the season which has seen the reigning champions struggling to get off the foot of the ladder.

An early 5-0 thrashing of former boss Ange Postecoglou at Melbourne Victory has been the only highlight of a dismal campaign so far and the Roar board today moved to change direction before the season is lost completely.

Vidosic has been shuffted to the role of Technical Director in the reshuffle, with "a broader technical role that incorporates Bakrie Group football interests in Europe, South America, Asia and Australia," said the club.

Mulvey was brought in as his replacement util the end of the season after being picked from a shortlist of available options.

Brisbane Roar General Manager Sean Dobson said the club was keen to make even better use of Vidosic’s vast technical knowledge of the game through his new position.

“Rado’s contribution to the success of Brisbane Roar has been immeasurable,” Dobson said. “His technical analysis and knowledge is second-to-none and we believe with his new role he can be even more effective.

"Rado is a champion of the club and typifies the commitment and dedication we look for in all our staff.

“We are excited about the new role which will coordinate our global interests in football while at the same time bringing an exciting challenge to Rado that is more suitable to his expertise and expectations.”

In his new position Vidosic will be engaged as an analyst for the A-League squad while also working on developing Brisbane Roar's youth program.

Brisbane Roar have already launched their expanded youth development program and with Vidosic on board, the club is now aiming to grow the program and to develop young footballers from all regions of Queensland.

Vidosic said he was excited by the opportunities which would present themselves as part of his new position.

“It is with great excitement that I have accepted this new position with Brisbane Roar and the wider Pelita Jaya Cronus football group,” he said.

“The role of Technical Director is one which, I believe, will have long term benefits not only for the club but football in Queensland.

“The development of an academy providing a pathway for talented young footballers is something I have advocated for, for some time and to be a part of the process to establish the groundwork for a youth development program is something I am very excited about.

“I would like to thank the club’s owners for their belief in me and for giving me the opportunity to be involved at the highest level.”

Mulvey will join Brisbane Roar in an interim position following Vidosic’s decision to step immediately into the Technical Director position with the club.

Brisbane Roar General Manager Sean Dobson said the decision was made with due consideration to the core values of the club.

“After speaking to Mike it was clear his values and expectations met those of the club,” Dobson said.

“We are very proud of the philosophy, culture and style of play which has been fostered over the past few seasons and any coach who took on the Head Coach responsibility would need to embrace those key elements.

“While they would always be given scope to implement their own ideas, the core values of the club must always be maintained and in Mike we believe we have found the happy medium.”

Mulvey developed a crop of youngsters who starred for his former club Gold Coast United and have subsequently been signed by other A-League clubs, including Brisbane’s Ben Halloran.

During his time at Gold Coast United the former Queensland Academy of Sport Head Coach successfully guided the National Youth League squad to consecutive titles.

He also has four national women’s football titles to his credit as the former head of the QAS women’s football program, as well as holding a position as assistant coach with the Australian U20s side between 2007 and 2009.

While Mulvey’s position is initially on an interim basis, there is scope for the position to become permanent following a review at the end of the season.

Dobson said the move was critical in helping to establish a long-term and stable environment within the club.

“While we’re confident in Mike’s ability to make a positive impact on the Football Department, and club as a whole, the appointment needs to be the right fit for both parties,” he said.

“In this instance, Mike and the club will have the ability to sit down at the end of the season, assess the situation and make a rational decision whether the relationship meets everybody’s expectations.

“Football is a results business, but this will not be the only category the club uses to measure success.

“Mike is completely aware of our expectations and what we want to achieve, both he and the club are very happy with the arrangement.”

Mulvey will start immediately, joinging the playing squad's training session tomorrow morning at Ballymore Stadium.

He has recently been working as head coach for Melbourne Victory's W-League side who paid tribute to him as he headed north for his new role.

Victory captain Stephanie Catley added: "We have really enjoyed playing under Mike this year and will miss him for the next month, but the playing group are a fantastic team who play for each other.

"There is no doubt we are well placed to have a real shot at the title this year.”

Assistant coach Fabrizio Soncin will lead the Victory women's team for the rest of the season assisted by FFV Technical Director Sean Douglas.
