With Hyuk-Su Seo still injured, Mundy is set to play his fourth senior match of the season and the first at home.

The 21-year-old has braced himself for a tough night as he looks to contain strikers Archie Thompson, Danny Allsopp and left-sided attacker Evan Berger.

He said: “I’ve watched a couple of Melbourne’s recent games and I’ve noticed that Evan Berger likes to run the ball a fair bit.

“Thompson drifts out left sometimes, same with Allsopp so it could be either of those three but I’d say I’ll have to watch out for Evan Berger the most because he’s going to be coming down my side the most often.”

Berger caused havoc for the Adelaide United defence last weekend as Victory snatched a late 3-2 win and Saturday promises an intriguing battle between two talented youngsters.

Mundy said: “He looks quite sharp, quick as well. He could be a handful but hopefully I go all right against him.”

Mundy’s solid performances have helped the team collect seven points in his three appearances, but the confident defender said he still needed to improve.

He said: “I try to set a pretty high standard for myself to play at and I didn’t think I achieved that last week.

“I didn’t have my best game (against Newcastle), but hopefully I can bounce back and have a good performance against Melbourne.

“I think Melbourne will be my biggest test.

“A lot of my friends and family are coming along so it’d be really good to have a good game in front of them.”

As well as family and friends, Mundy was excited at the prospect of a big crowd for his first home match.

“It’d be good to get the fans behind us and hopefully we can get them three points.

“Everyone wants to go into the break with another three points under our belt and a lot closer to the top of the leader board," he said.
