Melbourne Victory captain Kevin Muscat has apologised to fans and major sponsor Samsung after kicking an advertising hording following his expulsion from the match against Wellington Phoenix at Telstra Dome on Saturday night.
“Knowing that I’d be playing no further part in a crucial game for us, I was pretty frustrated,” Muscat said. “If I had my time again I certainly wouldn’t have vented that frustration on the Samsung sign that was in my path as I headed towards the player’s tunnel.
“As captain of the team, I am disappointed in my actions as I left the arena, and I understand the responsibility that I have as a senior player to set an example and act as a good role model for our young players, our supporters and junior footballers around the country.”
