Nautico surprisingly advanced to the Copa do Brasil quarter-finals with a 2-0 second-leg victory against Corinthians.
Corinthians looked to have claimed the advantage in the tie after returning from Recife with a 2-2 first-leg draw, but Nautico moved ahead in the tie as Wagner Rosa capitalised on a defensive error after 15 minutes.
Forward Acosta doubled the advantage just before the break to hand Corinthians coach Paulo Cesar Carpegiani a disappointing start to his tenure after taking over from Emerson Leao, who departed following the exit from the Campeonato Paulista.
"The reaction of the supporters was logical," said Corinthians' Magrao. "We lost a home game against a small team. The fans have the right to show their anger."
The Copa do Brasil quarter-finals begin next Friday as Nautico are rewarded with a last eight tie against Figueirense, while Brasilense face Ipatinga, Fluminense take on, Atletico face Paranaense and Atletico Mineiro meet Botafogo.
