Farina has extended his contract to take him to the end of the 2010/11 A-League season and signed the two-year extension at the Melbourne Hotel alongside Roar chief executive Lawrence Oudendyk and WOW Sight & Sound director of retail Con Nicolas.

Roar also unveiled a new partnership with WOW Sight & Sound, whose logo will appear on the front of the National Youth League team shirt and the back of the Hyundai A-League team shorts.

Farina took the team to its maiden finals appearance last year and has recruited some exciting new talent going into the 2008/09 season.

Roar chief executive Lawrence Oudendyk said Farina’s contract extension was important for the club’s consistency and continuity.

“Frank is a top coach,” Oudendyk said.

“It’s a matter of consistency for the club that we know our youth policy going forward is protected and that more young players will be joining the club as a result of Frank’s long-term commitment to the club.”

Farina said extending his contract with the club was “a no-brainer”.

“We’ve got some wonderful players,” Farina said.

“To get a further two years to work with the squad that we’ve got and the young players coming through, I couldn’t be more pleased.”

After introducing young stars Michael Zullo, Robbie Kruse and Tahj Minniecon last season, Farina said it was important for the club’s youth to know the future of the coach.

“Once they know, it’s easier to convince them that they’re in the right place," he said.

“If they see stability at the top in terms of leadership and decision-making, that comforts them.”

Farina added that the WOW Sight & Sound major sponsorship deal was a sign that the club was moving forwards.

The club has also announced that the Melbourne Hotel in West End will be the official post-match function venue for Queensland Roar.

Mr Oudendyk said the club would be encouraging players and supporters to attend the hotel at the conclusion of matches at Suncorp Stadium.

“It’s a fantastic location in West End and we’re very proud to be associated with the Melbourne Hotel as our after-match venue,” he said.
