The Olyroos defender has been snapped up by the Jets and will join Griffiths in the Newcastle ranks next season.

It has been a miserable season for the rock-bottom Jets but with thoughts now turning to the Asian Champions League and a fresh start next season, Griffiths believes Gary van Egmond has made a shrewd move in bagging Topor-Stanley.

Griffiths told au.fourfourtwo.com: "I'll be welcoming him with open arms.

"He's someone I've always had problems playing against. He's tall, strong and has very good energy.

"So, yes, I'll be happy to see him pulling on our shirt and I don't have him as an opponent any more.

"He's a good character by all accounts as well, funny, and that's always good to have in the dressing room."

The Jets are still looking to strengthen ahead of the ACL kicking off in March but have so far been frustrated.

It is believed they were chasing Eugene Dadi before he committed himself to Perth once again.

The Jets have also invited Novcastrian and much-travelled midfielder Jon Brady to trial with the club.
