The South Korean left-back put in a solid 90 minutes for Vitezslav Lavicka's men against Central Coast Mariners on Monday night at Leichhardt Oval and his contribution so far has greatly impressed Simon Colosimo.

Coach Vitezslav Lavicka believes the player has the engine to get up and down the flank and that was in evidence in the goalless draw against Lawrie McKinna's Mariners.

Speaking to au.fourfourtwo.com Colosimo said the new boy was adapting well to his new surroundings.

"Byun was pretty good (against the Mariners). There's obviously the language barrier but we'll get that right in the four or five weeks ahead of the new season," he said.

"But he's fitted right into the changing room, which is probably the hardest part, the day to day stuff. He's done that very nicely.

"We're going away now for a few days (Sydney take on Newcastle Jets in Port Macquarie on Sunday) and that should give us a great opportunity to know him a little bit more."

Colosimo joked that the players had yet to successfully pass on any Aussie slang to the new boy but they'd keep trying.

Sydney head for their next test looking to make it 11 games unbeaten in pre-season with another clean sheet the target.

Colosimo said: "Conceding a late, late goal in the game last week (a 4-1 win over Sutherland Sharks) really hurt us. That was a big disappointment.

"As I've said before, this is a group of players who are working hard, doing their talking on the pitch. The 'bling' thing is gone. Everyone has their individual goals, the team goals, club goals and it's all part of a process."
