Promoter R. Sasikumar was told on the morning of the game that the former Liverpool superstar was not to be risked due by Fury due to a slight hamstring strain.

Although disappointed, Kumar told au.fourfourtwo.com that as a former player he understood the predicament the A-League club was in ahead of the game won 1-0 by Rovers.

"The game went very well," he said. :Obviously it was a little disappointing Robbie didn't play.

"For the fans there were mixed emotions as his appearance was so hyped up but as a promoter all you can do is keep your fingers crossed.

"These things are out of our control. But from a tour perspective, it's still been a success."

A crowd of almost 3500 at the Jalan Besar Stadium saw Fathi Yunus' 76th minute strike prove the difference between despite the local side going down to 10 men after a second half red card and Fury striker Brendan Santalab missing a penalty.

The promoter said he was able to utilise Fowler in a number of meet and greets in Singapore which helped pay for the tour. And he predicted he would break even on the tour after financing the all-expenses paid tour for Fury.

Sasikumar, an S-League commentator for local TV and a former player who once played with Santalab, said it's possible future tours in Asia could include countries outside of Singapore such as Indonesia.

And he says he'd like to promote Fury and other A-League clubs in Asia.

"I feel we're now mates. We began as business associates but now I feel Don [Matheson, Fury chairman] and Fergie [Fury coach Ian Ferguson], we're friends.

"It's very important that A-League clubs visit Asia, to show the fans here they want to be part of Asia and get exposure in Asia.

"It's also important given they are now playing in the Asian Champions League."

Fury's tour of Malaysia - which was to follow the Singapore game - was cancelled due to concerns over the swine flu disease in that country.
