GOLD Coast's hopes of luring Chinese international Sun Jihai to Australia have been dashed by David Carney's Sheffield United.
Clive Palmer's franchise, poised to receive its A-League invitation, had earmarked Sun as a target with coach Miron Bleiberg admitting the player was a preferred target.

Sun has agreed a two-year deal at Bramall Lane. United boss Kevin Blackwell told BBC Radio Sheffield: "Sun Jihai will be joining us next week. He gives us versatility."
