OLYROO reject Nathan Burns has scored his debut goal for his new side AEK Athens - just weeks after Graham Arnold insisted he couldn't handle the heat.
Up against quality Turkish Superlig side Ankaragucu, AEK battered home five goals including Burns's first for his new team since joining from Adelaide United.
Burns joined the action for the second half with his side already 3-0 up in the pre-season friendly after goals from Argentines Ignacio Scocco and Ismael Blanco and a third from new signing Daniel Majstorovic.
Pavlis made it 4-0 after 70 minutes and then Burns had his chance to get his first goal for his new side three minutes later.
Freed down the right wing, Burns ran into the box and ignored the support waiting in the middle. From an almost impossible angle he dug out a quality chip to get past the ‘keeper for his team's fifth and final goal of the game.
The goal comes after Olyroos coach Arnold left Burns and his former Adelaide sidekick Bruce Djite out of the Beijing squad.
Djite has since scored six goals from four matches for his new Turkish Superlig club Genclerbirligi.
