EXCLUSIVE: North Queensland FC boss Don Matheson says the club has selected a coach for its inaugural A-League season and will publicly unveil him on Monday lunchtime in Townsville.
The club says the assistant coach and youth team trainer will also be named on Monday.
The three coaches in the frame for the senior position include Ian Crook, Phil Stubbins and Ian Ferguson. All three were interviewed over the last two weeks by North Queensland FC's technical director Blair Burke.
NSW-based youth coach Jean Paul DeMarigny was also spoken about and could be in the frame for a youth team position.
Matheson told au.fourfourtwo.com that it was vital to get the coaching structure in place as early as possible.
"What we're getting feedback on is we can't talk to you until we know who the coach is, and we appreciate that."
On October 1, the six-month period for players out of contract for next season, passes, thereby allowing clubs to talk to those players for next season.
"From a players point of view, we'll be trying to build a back-bone for next season. So we know the importance of the announcement of the coach and coaching staff.
"We're obviously not announcing the candidate because discretion is involved here and we want to give the guys who didn't get it an explanation."
Matheson also hinted that the key position of CEO and other admin roles would likely be filled by October/November.
"Now we can start the important task of building the structures within the club. And the coach will be so pivotal in that."
