While the anti-racism message is an important part of Queensland Roar’s clash against the Brazilian giants, club spokesperson Francisco Del Bianco said fans could expect a competitive encounter.

“Palmeiras are a very traditional team from Brazil and to win is always the priority,” he said. “It’s a strong and very capable team, with all the best that Palmeiras have for the near future and for the present as well.

“On Saturday, football fans will see what Palmeiras are preparing for the near future and most of the players we hope to see playing in the Brazilian squad.”

The six-time Brazilian champions and current São Paolo state champions are one of Brazil’s most successful clubs, and Del Bianco said fans would see plenty of quality at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday.

“Palmeiras are a first class team and have players from the club playing with the most important teams in the world and in the Brazilian team as well,” he said.

“We think that all the players involved should be observed by the fans, because if Queensland Roar have this intention (to observe the players), Palmeiras will do everything that is possible to send those players to Brisbane.”

Del Bianco said anti-racism message of the match was an important part of the cultural exchanged between the two sides.

“We are working to build a strong relationship between Palmeiras and Queensland Roar,” he said. “I think that we can not only see (Brazilians) playing in Australia but also see some Australians players in Brazil, training and playing in Palmeiras.

“Australia, like Brazil, is a country where many foreigners come to and since our countries have so much in common, every action avoiding discrimination is important to make the world and our countries a better place to live.”

Tickets to Queensland Roar’s clash with Palmeiras are available from Ticketek. The match kicks off at 7pm on Saturday, July 12 at Suncorp Stadium.
