GOLD Coast United chairman Clive Palmer believes Michael Thwaite and Joel Porter both deserve to feature on Pim Verbeek's Socceroos radar.
Palmer feels both deserve to be in the mix for squad consideration when it comes to Australia's upcoming games.
Thwaite, 26, has already played in several different positions in United's five matches so far this term and another outstanding performance against Sydney FC on Saturday night had pundits purring about the former Melbourne Victory man who already has six international caps to his name.
Thirty-year-old Porter has made an immediate impact since returning from his six-year stint with Hartlepool in England and looks set to enjoy a stellar season once he recovers from his current calf strain and resumes his partnership with goal-machine Shane Smeltz.
"Anyone who has watched our opening games will surely agree that these two players are destined to enjoy an outstanding campaign in Gold Coast United colours and international recognition can only be around the corner for both of them," said Palmer. "Both Michael and Joel have played key roles in our excellent start to the season, as well as our form during the pre-season when we were undefeated and even managed to beat English Premier League side, Fulham.
"Joel Porter's form has been excellent, even to the point where he won the 'man of the match' award over four-goal Shane Smeltz against North Queensland Fury in round two."
"If Michael (Thwaite) continues to perform at his current level we hope he will get the opportunity he deserves."
Gold Coast travel to Perth Glory this weekend as they look to maintain pole position in the A-League.
