Melbourne Victory prospect Kaz Patafta is set to be released by club Benfica, and will opt to not sign on with the Victory. While there were reports linking him with the Newcastle Jets, it seems he is keen on giving Europe another shot. Through a recommendation by his agent, as well as a family friend in Italy, he is set to trial with Serie B outfit Modena in hopes of securing a contract with the Italian side. He seems extremely keen to move to a more professional league, and somewhere he could get much more game time than the 21 game season a-league has to offer.
Patafta never made a league apperance for Benfica, and made 14 apperances for Melbourne Victory last season, only started in 2 of the 14 games while on loan.

FourFourTwo Belief Factor: 6/10 - His spell at Victory certainly hasn't helped his career but we reckon Benfica are unlikely to drop him without bringing him home and putting him through his paces at the club. He needs more game time though, that's for sure.
