SYDNEY FC's man-of-the-match Alex Brosque paid credit to his teammates for showing patience before scoring two goals in the final 15 minutes to defeat Perth Glory 2-0 on Sunday.
Shannon Cole and Brosque got the crucial goals for the Sky Blues on 75 and 81 minutes respectively.
"We kept calm, kept pressing and kept trying new things and sometimes it will take 90 minutes to do it," said Brosque.
Brosque added: "To get a goal is always good. A win for the team is more important especially with two teams battling into the top six."
Sydney FC coach Vitezslav Lavicka admitted getting the breakthrough goal was crucial.
"It is a very tough game for us until we scored the first goal," he said.
"We worked hard and tried to penetrate. It is not easy for both teams playing in these conditions."
Lavicka also singled out the influence Sky Blues teenagers Dimitri Petratos and Terry Antonis had on the game.
"They both have amazing potential," he said.
"They are picking up valuable experience with every game. They will play a big part in our future."
Sydney's next match is away to Melbourne Heart on Saturday.
