The Reds were first to strike when the leading scorer from the inaugural National Youth League Season, Francesco Monterosso, pounced in the 37th minute, but Perth responded through Howard Fondyke in the 57th minute, with neither side able to find a winner.

Monterosso was joined by Daniel Mullen, Inseob Shin and goalkeeper Mark Birighitti as the other senior listed players to take the field for the Youth Team as they looked to register their third win of the season.

Having the better of the play in the opening half hour, Monterosso eventually took advantage of a string of corners and some persistent United pressure, when he found the back of the net from a Perry Mitris corner.

However, the lead was erased after the break as Perth drew level, the home side throwing another player into the midfield to unsettle The Reds' flow as United were unable to capitalise with the Glory's three across the back.

Perth started to control the game towards the final stages, but The Reds held firm for a point and kept their undefeated start to the season in tact.

"We had some early half chances and played some good football and went in 1-nil at half time and I was very pleased with the effort and the football that they played in the first half," Reds Youth Coach Joe Mullen said in reflecting on the match.

"It was a terrific first half and in the second half we just got outran. Again, from a conditioning point of view, we need to improve and play a full 90 minutes. We're playing for 65-70 minutes but not the full 90, but in saying that, overall I was pretty pleased with the performance."

"The result could have probably gone either way but I think in the end a draw was a fair result."
