EXCLUSIVE: Exciting Gold Coast United striker Chris Harold is close to signing for Glory with the WA club admitting the Perth-born rising star is a player of interest.
Livewire Harold, 19, attracted plenty of positive attention this season for his displays with United, grabbing one goal in his 15 first team appearances.
The former Brisbane Force player was also drafted into the Olyroo squad for their recent game against Iraq in Gosford.
“Chris is a player of interest,” the Glory confirmed today.
After winning the NYL Golden Boot with 14 goals in 2009/10, Harold scored another eight goals the following season in United’s youth team.
He scored on debut for the first team last season and he continued on that trajectory this campaign.
If he signed, Harold would add genuine speed and skill to Glory’s attacking ranks as they look to build a title-winning squad under newly reappointed coach Ian Ferguson.
The Scottish coach signed a two-year deal with the club this week, although Glory stressed they wouldn’t be discussing player signings at this time.
“We won’t comment officially or unofficially and won’t be making any comment on individual contracts through the finals series," said the club.
Gold Coast United's players are hot property after their club's ownership troubles.
They have already lost keeper Glen Moss to Phoenix, exciting left back Adama Traore to Melbourne Victory and classy striker James Brown to Newcastle Jets.
Gold Coast had their final training session today while Glory play their elimination final against Melbourne Heart this weekend at nib Stadium
