PERTH Glory coach Ian Ferguson has asked FFA to review referee Chris Beath's performance in Sunday's 2-2 draw with Melbourne Victory after what he described as 'crazy decisions' cost his side the win in a dramatic match.
Glory fought their way back from 2-0 down after 58 minutes to rescue a point with goals from Andrezinho and Shane Smeltz in the final 20 minutes.
However, Ferguson was left fuming by Beath's awarding of a penalty against defender Bas Van den Brink for his sliding tackle on Archie Thompson soon after half time.
He also said that the club would consider appealing the red card to Liam Miller which left the visitors a man down for the final 53 minutes.
Not wanting to direct personal criticism at Beath, Ferguson said FFA needed to ensure that refereeing standards were maintained.
"Without jumping all over anybody, let's be calm about it and let FFA do what they have to do and have a look at it," he said.
"At the end of the day, it's our livelihoods. It could cost you games, it could cost you points, it could cost me my job, especially crazy decisions like we saw today.
"When the penalty is awarded, I can clearly see that it is not a penalty kick and I think everybody else sees that.
"As I said before that's football, and sometimes decision can go for and against you and they just seem to go against you."
Ferguson hadn't yet had a chance to review to decision to send off Miller, but said that if a replay showed that Miller was not in fact the last defender, Glory would not hesitate in appealing the decision to send him off.
"I've not really seen it, so I can comment but to me, again, it looks like it was a foul, but I thought that Bas van den Brink was there to cover. That's just my thoughts," he said.
"If I honestly think it's not a sending off then the club will appeal it."
Ferguson said he was extremely proud of the courage his men had shown coming from two goals down to rescue a point on the road.
"The situation that we were in, 2-0 down and a man sent off, with a penalty, it looked as though the world was against us at one point," he said.
"But to come back from 2-0 down against Melbourne away from home and get a point shows great character and determination from the boys which I was really proud with."
