PERTH Glory coach Dave Mitchell refused to take too much from Friday's 3-1 pre-season win at Adelaide United but admitted he was delighted to see both of his strikers find the back of the net.
Glory's international marquee player Robbie Fowler was missing, but in his absence strikers Branko Jelic and Michael Baird stepped up with both getting their names on the scoresheet.
"We're not getting carried away with the result," Mitchell said after the game.
"It's good both strikers scored, they worked hard.
"There was a lot of pleasing things about the performance but also a few things we're not pleased with so we've still got some work to do."
Perth took the lead in the first-half courtesy of Jelic's close-range finish on 17 minutes after Baird's lead-up play.
Adelaide equalised late on, but Baird - a former United triallist - grabbed a double inside the final ten minutes to clinch the result.
Glory won without players such as Fowler, Andy Todd, Victor Sikora and Steven McGarry, but Mitchell wasn't getting carried away.
"Adelaide are a decent side with a new coach who were keen to impress and it was a tough game," he said.
"For us it was a fitness game, a good chance to get some mileage in the legs and another 90 minutes under our belt."
The Glory gaffer added: "Naum Sekulovski was also outstanding along with Tando Velaphi."
Glory begin their A-League campaign in a fortnight against the North Queensland Fury at nib Stadium (formerly ME Bank Stadium).
