Glory coach Dave Mitchell will cast his eye over the midfield ace at training on Thursday with the possibility of signing the former Brazilian international for the guest stint, despite local media claims he had already agreed a deal.

Amaral played seven matches with Perth last season before a hamstring injury prematurely ended his campaign.

His silky touch and class in midfield was evident each time he stepped onto the pitch and despite not earning a full-time contract for the 2009/10 season he felt he had unfinished business in Western Australia.

"Everyone could see in the games he played that he is a player of the highest quality," Mitchell said. "He was disappointed that his season ended early and really wanted to come back and repay the faith we showed in bringing him here last season. He is very keen to contribute to the club again.

"He has a good relationship with the players, loves the city and most importantly he said he is fully fit and recovered from the injury and ready to play."

Amaral possesses a world class resume having played with Brazilian giants Palmeiras and Corinthians, Portuguese outfit Benfica and Italian Serie A club's Parma and Fiorentina. He has also represented Brazil 31 times and won a bronze medal as part of Brazil's 1996 Olympic football side.

New Hyundai A-League rules for this season now allow clubs to recruit a guest player for a maximum period of nine consecutive matches.

Amaral is scheduled to land in Perth on Wednesday and will train with the team on Thursday morning at ME Bank Stadium.

"We'll take our time and look at him closely," said Mitchell. "He has maintained an interest in returning to the club since he left last season and was so keen to return that he is paying his own way over here.

"He has indicated that he is fit and we'll see how he could contribute to the team before making any decisions."
