While Villa notched up their seventh away win in a row at the weekend, the Mariners are looking for just one.

They travel to Brisbane this weekend trailing 2-0 from the first leg of their minor semi-final with many dismissing their task as mission impossible.

Porter says those outside the club can say what they like but no-one inside Bluetongue Stadium is ready to give up the fight.

He told au.fourfourtwo.com today: "Everyone was very disappointed with the way the first match turned out (against Queensland).

"But we were back in this morning, we talked about it and had a very postive training session. I can guarantee you that the boys in this squad still believe we can go up there (to Suncorp) and win this tie.

"We know the sleeves have to be rolled up, we have to work hard as a team and the realisation is there of what's at stake. If we don't do it, our A-League season is over."

Porter is a member of the club that views 2-0 as a 'dangerous' scoreline, something that has been discussed in the aftermath of both semi-final first legs.

He said: "I think it is dangerous because if we can go up there and get a goal, all of a sudden it maybe quietens the crowd, we grow 10 feet tall and the other team starts to get nervous. Then anything can happen."

Porter also takes heart from previous successes in hauling back deficits. He said: "There was last season in the finals (the Mariners lost the first leg 2-0 to Newcastle before winning the return 3-0) and we've been three goals down this year in the league and come back to get a result."

Then there's his beloved Villa who can do no wrong away from home at the moment. They provide further inspiration for Porter. He joked: "Yes, maybe I'll call Martin O'Neill."

Queensland have been formidable at home in recent matches but Porter says Central Coast won't travel with any fear.

He said: "We've already been there and won this season. We won 4-2 and a repeat of that would be enough to see us through."

As for Porter's own form, he has been happy with the way he's secured a place in the team this season, mainly as a right-back.

He said: "My goal at the start of the season was to get a regular starting spot and I'm pleased to have done that. But if we go out now (of the finals) it will be a big disappointment."
