CENTRAL Coast coach Graham Arnold says the Mariners may have missed out on hosting the Grand Final but they've claimed a psychological advantage over Brisbane Roar after a 2-2 draw.
The Mariners trailed 2-0 after the first leg in Gosford, but fought back to take a two-goal lead into half-time.
Brisbane pulled one back on 63 minutes through Thomas Broich but Central Coast threatened for a third which would've clinched the tie, until Henrique sealed the result for the Roar in injury-time.
"Psychologically we've won the battle," Arnold told Fox Sports after the game.
"Coming here and playing the way we did, we were the better side tonight. (Roar keeper Michael) Theoklitos has made an unbelievable and that would've given us 3-1 and it would've been a totally different game.
"We're still in the mix, we play either Adelaide or Gold Coast and then back up here for the Grand Final."
Arnold added: "I think tonight we played them off the field. Ange and Brisbane have been fantastic, they've had unbelievable all season.
"It's a pity we couldn't break their winning run in the last minute, but we threw everything at them, we needed the third goal."
Arnold said he felt his side lost the tie last weekend at Bluetongue Stadium.
"We had a few school lessons this week, but it's just about confidence. We lost this tie at home, 2-0 at home, but our away form has been very good," he said.
"I'm very proud of the boys. They're all gutted in the dressing room. A couple of crucial decisions didn't go our way."
Arnold added he felt Ivan Franjic was interfering with play when offside for Thomas Broich's opener, while he felt Pedj Bojic's late sending off was 'a bit harsh'.
