MIRON Bleiberg sees the Gold Coast as a football factory powering its A-League supremacy in years to come – and he has issued a challenge to the Coast's players.

“Obviously the bottom line if I can foresee it, is to have 11 players from the Gold Coast playing for Gold Coast United,” the newly installed Gold Coast United boss said today.
“At the moment, we have to start somewhere so we have to recruit most players from outside the area but basically our aim from day one is to represent in a proud way the Gold Coast region.
“Obviously our youth team will all be from the Gold Coast too. If there are two players of equal standing – one from Gold Coast and the other not – the Gold Coast boy will get ahead.”
Bleiberg predicted that Gold Coast United players will begin to be signed by this October/ November.
And Palmer has a stated wish of attracting Asian players to the club. The A-League's newest mogul told au.fourfourtwo.com that he'd like to see an entire defence or an entire forward line of Chinese players.
“It shouldn't be a problem attracting players – especially if you tell them they have a private jet with a card table!” added Bleiberg with a smile.
The former Roar boss said the new squad should be signed up by New Year's Eve this year. “And around April 1, 2009, we will start training.”
Bleiberg looked at home in front of the media today, joking with journalists and promising, more importantly, that the United side will be worth the price of a ticket to Skilled Stadium.
“It will be important. There will be a lot of people who will be curious to see what is the new entity here.
“Maybe the watch basketball, Aussie Rules, or League, so we have a mission to convert these fans to come to this beautiful stadium and have them come again.
“By playing boring football, you won't do that.”
