While visiting J-League club FC Tokyo on a fact-finding mission, the Brisbane Roar coach revealed interest in Nichols from newly promoted Danish Superliga club Randers had cooled.

Nichols - scorer of 10 goals for Roar in last season - spent several days on trial at Randers in May and was reportedly on the verge of signing a four-year deal with Michael Hemmingsen's team.

It comes as good news for Roar, who have lost little of their nucleus ahead of their first season under Vidosic after former coach Ange Postecoglou's departure for Melbourne Victory.

"He went there for trials, and that was the end of May," Vidosic said of Nichols. "Now it's the end of June and we haven't heard anything, so I don't think it's going to happen.

"The club never contacted us after the trial so I will say that nothing will happen from that."

Vidosic's lone signing since taking charge at Brisbane has been highly rated former Gold Coast United attacker Ben Halloran, with defender Matt Mundy (Rochedale Rovers), Canadian winger Issey Nakajima-Farran (AEK Larnaca) and goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne (Melbourne Heart) all allowed to depart.

Vidosic has trialed several players in a bid to fill the remaining spots in his squad, but one player that remains unlikely to be a new addition is his son - and Adelaide United Australian marquee - Dario Vidosic .

Rado said he would have no problem working with his son at Roar, but suggested Adelaide held the key to any move for the 25-year-old.

"He's got a two-year contract so there are no transfers in Australian football," the Roar coach said. "Unless he's free, we can't get him, so it's a simple question and a simple answer.

"He played for me in (the 2006-07 season with Roar), so it wouldn't be something we haven't experienced (if Dario was to join).

"Plus I was his school teacher for five years, so it wouldn't be anything new. We both know how to operate in the same program so there wouldn't be any problem."
