NEWCASTLE Jets' Tarek Elrich has seen his red card against Sydney FC overturned by the Independent Match Review Panel while his Hunter teammate Fabio Vignaroli is also in the clear.
Elrich was dismissed in the closing stages of Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Sydney Football Stadium for a challenge on Byun.
He looked utterly shocked as he was sent for an early shower but the panel has decided that he has no case to answer.
The independent Match Review Panel (MRP) comprising Barry Such (Chair), Alan Davidson and Simon Micallef convened to consider the following matters from Round 7 of the Hyundai A-League:
The MRP reviewed the Red Card issued toTarek Elrich (Newcastle Jets)following Newcastle Jetssubmission of an"Obvious Error (Red Card) Application" seeking to challenge the Red Card issued to Elrich in the 89th minute of the match against Sydney FC. TheMRP allowed the Application, deciding that, in possession of all the facts, neither aRed Card nor YellowCard to Elrichwas warranted.Elrichhas had the Red Card expunged from his record.
The MRP reviewed the penalty awarded to Newcastle Jets in the 22nd minute for possible Simulation by Fabio Vignaroli. The MRP determined that the Referee did not make an Obvious Error in awarding the penalty. The MRP decided that while the contact between Stuart Musalik and Fabio Vignaroli was minimal, the Referee was not deceived into awarding a penalty based solely on the reaction of Vignaroli.
