The former Adelaide United and Wellington Phoenix defender has held discussions with United coach Miron Bleiberg and admits that a move would be extremely tempting.

Rees revealed to au.fourfourtwo.com that he discussed a potential move towards the end of last season, before the decision to delay United's entry until 2009.

Since leaving Phoenix, Rees has enjoyed a successful spell with Adelaide City and moved back into the world of real estate.

However, he admits an offer from Gold Coast would be hugely tempting, offering a path back into A-League football.

Speaking to this website today, Rees said: "It (Gold Coast) is on the cards but I don't want to say it's definitely going to happen. There have been negotiations and we'll just have to wait and see. It's still early days.

"Miron is an excellent coach though and it looks to be exciting times at the Gold Coast."

But until a firm offer is on the table Rees will continue to pursue further success in real estate - no doubt keeping a close eye on property prices in Queensland.

Gold Coast have already begun assembling their squad with former Juventus keeper Jess Vanstrattan unveiled as their first major signing yesterday.
