ADELAIDE United midfielder Paul Reid hailed Brisbane Roar as the best team he'd faced so far after the Reds' were held to a 1-1 draw at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night.
With both teams earning a point for the draw, Adelaide, undefeated in their opening seven matches, hold top spot on the A-League ladder for at least another week.
Having faced the likes of Central Coast, Sydney and Newcastle, Veteran midfielder Reid, who has played all but six minutes of the season so far, says the Roar are the pick of the bunch and that a draw was a respectable result.
"Brisbane are a very good team. They're probably the best team we've played against this year," he said.
"We went into the game aiming for the three points, but at the end of the day we're happy with the one point.
Considering the clash featured Brisbane's slowest start, and worst first half of the season, Postecoglou's wasn't quite as positive as Reid in his appraisal, but he did credit his players for turning things around and competing in the final 45-minutes.
"Credit to them (Adelaide). They're a good side and obviously they've got a lot of confidence at the moment," Postecoglou said.
"I was really disappointed in the way in the first half we gave them too much room."
"We sat back a little bit, which is all well and good if you've got the ball, but we've got to be pretty aggressive when we don't have it."
"To the boys credit I think in the second half they did really well. We put them under more pressure, we didn't allow them to have as much possession and we looked dangerous going forward."
Returning from a 3-0 loss to Melbourne Victory last weekend, a draw with competition leaders Adelaide looks a good result for Brisbane, but Postecoglou and skipper Matt McKay both admitted they'd had some luck after Sergio van Dijk missed a point-blank opportunity in the 78th minute.
Van Dijk, the Roar's all-time leading goal-scorer with 24, should have had his first against his former club, but when he was found unmarked by a Marcos Flores pass, just a meter out from an open net, his shot inexplicably bobbled wide.
"I told him, 'thank you very much,'" said McKay.
"He's a good guy, I hate to see him miss those ones, but we move on and he moves on."
"Of course (I thought he'd put it away). He's a proven goal-scorer at our club and I'm glad he couldn't do it for Adelaide."
