“He came in last year for eight weeks and was outstanding. And he just got better as the games went on,” McKinna said today of Jedinak.

“He's still learning but he's doing that holding midfield role well, winning everything and we start a lot of play through Mile. He gets that Inspector Gadget leg and gets the ball and we build from there.

“Mile is dominant on the ground and good in the air. And even though he looks like a big guy he's also very quick. He's had an outstanding start to the season.”

Jedinak nullified FC Juninho in round one and kept a muzzle on Phoenix dangerman, Brazilian Daniel, in round two.

Top of the table Mariners leave tomorrow for Queensland for an important round three A-League match on Thursday night. The Roar, yet to win but with two draws, are keen to make Suncorp a fortress.

And they are likely to play their Brazilian striker Marcinho. Jedinak may well be marking a third Brazilian in as many weeks.

“Playing against these sorts of players, like Juninho and Marcinho of Roar, I really look forward to it,” said 23-year-old Jedinak.

“It's not very often you get to play against such players. I just do my normal job, pick them up and when we have the ball, try to get involved,” he added.

In other news, the club is close to reaching 3000 memberships, a club spokesperson told au.fourfourtwo.com today.
