QUEENSLAND Roar have signed Dutch striker Sergio van Dijk on a two-year deal.
The 25-year-old has impressed in the Roar roadshow training matches since arriving in Brisbane late in June.
He netted a double in a 4-0 win over Redlands United just days after touching down in Australia.
The former FC Emmen and FC Groningen frontman has scored 52 times in 194 senior appearances in the two top divisions in Holland.
Van Dijk said he was delighted to have signed with the Roar.
"I'm very happy to sign here," van Dijk said. "I played for a second division club (in Holland) and it is not as professional as here ... they are all positive things here in Australia.
"I want to score goals, that's the thing I have to do. But I also want to help the team to play better football. Hopefully we can win the grand final."
The striker said he was pleased to play under the vastly experienced coaching staff headed by Frank Farina.
Queensland will be in action again on Tuesday night as the Roar pre-season continues against Peninsula Power at AJ Kelly Field.
Activities begin at 4.30pm with the match between the Roar and Power scheduled to kick-off at 7.15pm.
