Marcinho turned out for a Roar invitational XI made up of local Premier League players who took on current league leaders Palm Beach, with the Gold Coast side coming away 2-1 winners after an entertaining friendly at Luxury Paints Stadium.

Showing neat touches, a sharp turn of pace and quick feet, the 25-year-old caught the eye of Farina who will is keen to see more of the former Sao Paulo playmaker.

“There’s no doubt that he (Marcinho) can play. It’s difficult when you’ve only been off the plane for a few days, but you can see that he’s played at a high level. He’s quick, two-footed and take people on and he’ll only get better the longer he’s here,” said Farina.

Palm Beach attacking midfielder Mitch Nicholls and anchorman David Dodd also impressed the Roar boss. Nicholls has been attracting rave reviews for his performances and goalscoring feats in the local competition and the 18-year-old may have done enough to suggest that he is Hyundai A-League material.

The same could be said for Dodd, the younger brother of former Roar defender Karl Dodd. A strong display was capped with a fine goal from the edge of the penalty area.
