There's no travel sickness for Queensland Roar as the Brisbane outfit prepare to hit the road for their first competitive semi-final.
Roar’s Pre-Season Cup campaign has involved plenty of travel but the players have shown no ill effects and made progress into the latter stages of the competition.
Friday’s 2-1 win against Wellington Phoenix has teed up a semi-final encounter at Adelaide United – another away day for Frank Farina’s squad. Still, it could have been worse on the air miles front.
“It didn’t really matter for us too much," the Roar coach told the club's official website.
"But it would’ve been a bit tough going to Perth and having to travel three weeks in a row and on what would have been the longest trip of all.
“So we’re reasonably happy that we’re playing Adelaide but most probably would have liked to have avoided them, since we’re playing them in four weeks' time in the league, but that’s life.
“But our progress is pleasing and we’re travelling well.”
And Farina feels there is still more to come from his side as the countdown to the big kick off continues.
Striker Simon Lynch earned Farina’s praise following the Wellington triumph.
He said: “Lynchy played his first 90 minutes this year and is coming along well.
“He’s still got a little bit of work to do physically, but he’s putting the ball in the back of the net and could’ve easily had a couple of goals on Friday night.
“We’ve come away from the match relatively injury-free, except I think for Massimo Murdocca who has a bit of a problem, but everyone else seems alright.
“There’s still a fair way to go before the start of the season and Craig [Moore] has still got a way to go, Danny [Tiatto] is coming along well, as is Marcinho and I think Ante Milicic should be back this weekend, so it’s shaping up alright.”
