Moore, who jarred a knee at training, was listed as a non-participant on the Roar's original unsigned team sheet.

But he passed a fitness test during the warm-up and was in the starting line-up when the final team-sheet - this one signed by Roar coach Frank Farina - was distributed shortly before kick-off.

Vidmar jokingly suggested that Farina had pulled another swift one but said he would prefer a more streamlined approach.

"I know you can change at the very last minute, but he wasn't listed as one of the subs so that's probably something I need to talk to the FFA about," Vidmar said.

"Generally the team is named an hour before kickoff. Personally I would prefer you know exactly who is lining up where.

"Craig Moore on one leg is probably as good as a centre back pairing. I'd prefer a little more clarification, even if you name a fifth substitute.

"At least then you would know that someone is testing (their fitness) and possibility might come in and start the game."

Moore was delighted just to have made it onto the pitch, having missed the Roar's season-opener in Wellington last week through suspension.

"I was training on Friday and took a little knock to the knee - a little twist," Moore said.

"I managed to look after it for a couple of days and today I didn't feel any problems there. I was desperate to play having missed the first league game."

Despite the unusual circumstances surrounding Moore's presence, Vidmar was happy with the spirit in which the game was played.

Roar firebrand Danny Tiatto was sent off when the two sides clashed at Hindmarsh Stadium in January after tangling with Travis Dodd. New Adelaide signing Sasa Ognenovski also made his first appearance against his old club.

"I thought it was pretty competitive, as it should be," Vidmar said.

"There have been quite a few spiteful clashes in the past but I thought tonight was played in great spirit."
