BACK-to-back champions Brisbane Roar have put the finishing touches to their pre-season fixture list ahead of their title defence in the 2012/13 season which kicks off in October.
Seeking a championship hat-trick under new Head Coach Rado Vidosic, the club has ramped up preparations by adding another local match to the four scheduled against A-League rivals.
Roar plan to take their winning brand of football to Tamworth, Mackay and the Sunshine Coast in the lead-up to Season 8.
The club's General Manager Sean Dobson said bringing the game to the regions was an “important part of the league’s long term growth strategy”.
Dobson added: “This growth strategy runs parallel to our own platform of growth of the Brisbane Roar brand across the state and country.”
Brisbane will line up against Redlands United on August 29, marking the club’s final match in the Queensland capital until October 13 when they host Melbourne Victory in Round 2 of the league.
Two interstate fixtures follow with Brisbane set to take on Newcastle and Adelaide in September.
The club’s pre-season schedule winds up in Queensland with a match against Sydney FC before a huge clash against the Central Coast Mariners.
“Our pre-season program is an important part of our preparation on several levels,” Dobson said.
“First, and foremost, it provides our squad with the best possible preparation for the upcoming Hyundai A-League season.
“The players will be tested by both their local and Hyundai A-League opponents as the season preparations intensify.”
