Real Madrid star Robinho admits David Beckham's new-found form has been crucial to the Spanish club`s drive for the Primera Liga title.
The former England captain - recalled for the friendly against Brazil and this coming week`s Euro 2008 qualifier against Estonia - has played a key role in Madrid's recent surge towards their first championship since 2003. They are top after winning nine of their last 10 matches.
Beckham set up John Terry for England's goal in the 1-1 draw with Brazil at Wembley on Friday.
The 32-year-old midfielder received a resounding ovation from the Wembley crowd when he was substituted in the second half, and Robinho believes it was deserved.
"He is in an excellent moment of form and was the best on his team (England)," said Robinho.
"At Real Madrid he has been playing at this level so for that reason it did not surprise me as much, but he is a very important piece to winning the league."
England's goal against Brazil showed Beckham at his dead-ball best, with the former Manchester United man whipping in a superb cross which Terry headed home at the far post.
Robinho tried to warn Brazil goalkeeper Helton about the threat Beckham poses in those situations, but admits talking about it and preventing it are two totally different ball games.
"I tried to say some things before the free-kick, but it does not serve much good because Beckham takes them very well," said the 23-year-old forward in Marca.
Both Robinho and Beckham remain on international duty for the next few days before returning to Madrid ahead of Saturday's showdown with Real Zaragoza.
Fifth-placed Zaragoza have lost just twice in 18 league matches at their La Romareda stadium this season, but Madrid know anything other than a win could see them lose top spot to Barcelona, who have a home derby with Espanyol next weekend.
Madrid and Barca are level on 72 points with two games remaining.
