After an injury-ravaged first year in Australia the Brazilian has featured in six of Gold Coast's eight games so far this term and made starts in the last four. Interestingly, United have not lost when Robson has taken to the field this season.

Now fit and firing, the midfield maestro is set for an extended run in the first team and he hopes to continue in the same rich vein of form and reward the faith shown in him by Head Coach Miron Bleiberg.

"I feel good, I'm fit and I've been able to play a few games in a row," the Brazilian said.

"Last season I never played at my best because injuries stopped me from settling into the team, but now I can show everybody my best football."

Robson will play in Gold Coast's top-of-the-table home clash this Sunday against undefeated Adelaide United, but the Reds' impressive form does not shake the confidence of the Brazilian anchorman who says his side are more than capable of being the first club to claim Adelaide's scalp in 2010.

"I think technically we are the best team in the Hyundai A-League. We have a better chance of becoming champions this year than we did last season," he said.

"Adelaide will be a big game but Adelaide have never beaten us so that is a mental advantage for us."

Sunday's game will take on extra significance for Robson as he will face former teammate and good friend, Adelaide United wing-back Cassio. The two played together in Brazilian giant Flamengo's youth system and Robson is excited to take on his compatriot on the weekend - although pleasantries will be left off the pitch.

"He's a great player and still plays the same way he did back then. We were friends then and even now we still talk - he helped my brother Anderson and I settle into Australia," Robson said.

"Last time Adelaide came to the Gold Coast we caught up after the game and we are good friends but on Sunday we will not be too friendly."

Now with some stability finally injected into his career and having settled into life with Gold Coast United, Robson has fallen in love with his new city and hopes to make it his long-term home.

He added: "I'm happy here on the Gold Coast.

"It's like my hometown in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro. Beautiful beaches, beautiful weather, everything is good here."
