To see the Jets trial match against Sydney FC...

The experienced striker - and former Sydney FC hitman - has again swapped one half of an F3 derby for the other and he cannot wait to get started.

As one of several new signings at EnergyAustralia Stadium, Petrovski is excited with the club's recruitment drive.

He isn't quite so positive about the set up he has left behind. Petrovski told the Herald: "The Mariners will definitely find it harder given the form they are in.

"They are in a bit of a slump at the moment which they have to pull themselves out of. They haven't got much coming in to freshen them up and provide a boost.

"Mentally, I think everyone is drained with what has happened in recent weeks all the losses they have gone through and it is going to be difficult for them."

Petrovski is confident Newcastle can make an impression in the Asian Champions League with the mixture of established players at the club and the new signings.

"I could see the difference in where the Jets were trying to head. They had been recruiting and were trying to get a successful squad together again.

"It was an easy decision to leave the Mariners."

The Jets began their warm-up for Asia with a trial match against Sydney FC yesterday with a 2-1 defeat against their hosts.

Donny De Groot was on target for the Jets but Sydney won the day courtesy of goals from John Aloisi and Shannon Cole.
