FORMER Dutch International Victor Sikora has signed a one year extension deal that will see him return to Perth Glory next season.
Sikora, who has represented the Netherlands six times, played in Perth's final five matches this season after joining as an injury replacement and impressed coach Dave Mitchell with his tenacity and leadership on the pitch.
The short term stint convinced both club and player there was a significant upside in continuing their association into the future.
"Victor came in and immediately clicked with the team and I think everyone could see that he is a good player," Mitchell said.
"I'm confident Victor is going to add value to our squad next year and can be a real leader on the park."
The 30 year old brings a wealth of experience having played with Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam and has featured in two European Champions League campaigns.
"Victor is a good age, he's fit and cares about Perth Glory and winning football matches. He loves the city, feels people here are very friendly and is eager to come back and achieve our aim of finals football," said Mitchell.
Sikora is currently in the Netherlands and training with his former club Go Ahead Eagles but will return to WA in April to start pre-season training with the Glory.
"He is a real professional and doesn't like just sitting idle. Victor sets very high standards and I'd expect him to raise the bar in our pre-season and I'm confident you'll see an even better player and a significant contributor for our club."
Perth have nine contracted players for next season and are nearing completion of negotiations with several more players to add to the club's squad.
"There are a lot of things happening behind the scenes that people might not be aware of but I can assure you that we are doing all the hard yards now which will give us the jump start when players become available to move in and grab them," Mitchell said.
"People have recognised that we're moving in the right direction and want to be involved and that is a really positive for us."
