Teenage striker Chris Payne is set to start against Melbourne Victory on Saturday night with Football Superstar winner Adam Hett having already made a good impression among the senior players.

Melbourne-born Colosimo says big names and big reputations will count for nothing if players don’t produce the goods – starting this week.

The midfielder told au.fourfourtwo.com: “A couple of young boys could get their chance in a big derby against Melbourne on Saturday and if they start the season well then they could be playing all the way through (the season).

“We’ve seen before that Kossie doesn’t hold back in that way. If you’ve done well for him, young kid or not, then he’ll continue playing you. We all have to be aware of that.”

While Kosmina yesterday likened Payne to Socceroo striker Mark Viduka, Colosimo said: “I think he’s done well in the time he’s trained with us and the older heads are there to help him through.”

As for Sydney FC’s first Football Superstar, Colosimo is swift to point out that Hett’s footballing journey is only just beginning.

There is no guarantee of a happily-ever-after scenario. The former Perth Glory skipper said: “He hasn’t got a million dollar recording contract. He’s got a chance, an opportunity to do well.

“Yes, he came through a process that was televised but he had to work very hard to get to this point and he’s continuing to work hard with us.”

As for Saturday night’s clash, Colosimo is looking forward to running out at Sydney Football Stadium for his new club but isn’t too sure what to expect.

He said: “Speaking to the lads here and some of the Melbourne boys, this is definitely a classic derby. Form and who’s playing goes out of the door. It’s all about who wants it more at the weekend.”
