SHANE Smeltz blasted nine goals on his Gold Coast United debut as Miron Bleiberg's men recorded a 12-1 victory in their inaugural outing.
The new Oceania player of the year gobbled up chance after chance as the A-League new boys brushed aside Mudgeeraba.
More than 500 fans turned out to watch the match which also saw Steve Pantelidis, Steve Fitzsimmons and Golly Mebrahtu on target for Bleiberg's boys.
The club's next outing is on Tuesday when they take on Magic United at Carrara Stadium. The game kicks off at 7pm, with the players signing autographs and meeting fans from 6pm.
Meanwhile, the club is hopeful of bringing Mark Schwarzer's Fulham side to Skilled Park for a pre-season clash in early July - although that has yet to be confirmed.
