Petrovski came under fire after he bragged that he was ready to put the Jets to the sword in the end of season showdown and bagged Queensland Roar for not killing off the F3 rivals.

But Jets head coach Gary Van Egmond hit back and branded the veteran striker 'not the sharpest tool in the shed'.

Today John Aloisi entered the row but insisted Petrovski was in the right.

"To be fair, Sasho didn't really say anything bad," said Aloisi as he got his hands on the A-League Championship trophy for the first time today at Sydney Harbour Bridge.

"He just said what he feels. He's confident in his own ability and if he gets the chance, he'll put it in the back of the net.

"He showed in the last game when he scored two goals that he's capable of doing that on his day."

Aloisi added: "That spice is always going to be there.

"The media make it big and make it sound like Sasho's giving it to the Newcastle boys...but that spice is going to be there no matter what.

"The two supporter groups don't like each other very much and that's going to boil over onto the pitch a little bit.

"But I'm looking forward to it - and I'm sure the rest of the players are too."
