Prior to Sunday's game against Perth at AAMI Park, a minute's silence was given in tribute to the life of the 14-year-old junior footballer and red and whites fan who tragically took her life due to bullying.

Heart star Aziz Behich was a family friend and was said to be distraught when told the news last week.

Both sets of players wore black armbands on Sunday and Behich and Munn were two of the mourners who attended the funeral on Friday.

The teen played for Cairnlea SC and was a regular fan at the Yarraside end of AAMI Park.

The Heart CEO stressed that A-League clubs have a role to play in highlighting the issue and called on others to help raise awareness.

"All sporting clubs and communities play a part in society and we probably have a greater opportunity than most to highlight some thing which we certainly don't agree with and won't be tolerated," he told au.fourfourtwo.com.

"Today was about reflecting and remembering but also highlighted the fact that bullying of any form is not tolerated.

"Hopefully we can play one small part in it but everyone needs to realise sometimes that certain things that go on just aren't acceptable."

au.fourfourtwo.com approached the FFA about using the A-League and W-League to connect with young grassroots players and fans about the issue but has yet to have a receive a reply.

"For us we're talking about a 14-year-old who was part of the football community but also part of the broader community which I think is important," added Munn.

"At times we get caught up with what happens on the field but we also have to realise we have a role to play in the broader community.

"We need to not only leave the game in a better place than we find it but we need to contribute to the community."
