NORTH Queensland Fury coach Franz Straka was delighted with the 2-1 win over Ian Ferguson's Perth Glory and hopes the win will fill his players with confidence for the challenges that lie ahead.
David Williams struck the winning goal on a filthy night in Townsville to the delight of the boss and the 4,000 fans.
"It was very important to give them confidence. In the last three games we were very unlucky," he told AAP.
"It was very close and today it was an excellent fight.
"It was not easy as the conditions were bad for both teams. I think we did very well."
Glory boss Ian Ferguson endured a disappointing return to Townsville and felt his side could have got something from the game in the closing stages. But it wasn't to be.
