It's sort of fitting that a deflected strike from Emil Forsberg settled this, Russia 2018's penultimate last-16 match.
Viktor Claessen (RW) - 7
Played an important role in the closing stages, digging in with the defensive job to help his teammates.
Gustav Svensson (CM) - 7
A physical presence, Svensson threw his weight around in the heart of the midfield battle and generally came away the winner. He was also well-composed when collecting the ball under pressure around his own box.
Albin Ekdal (RW) - 8
Guilty of wasting the clearest chance of the opening half, blazing over the bar from an excellent Lustig cross, but posted a fine passing ratio, though - 85% of his passes found their man.
Emil Forsberg (LW) - 6
A number of important passes were overhit or misdirected - and when he changed tact and attempted some individual dribbles, he was dispossessed with ease. So, he was having a frustrating afternoon until his slice of luck, in the 66th minute, when his low drive deflected into the roof of the Swiss net.
Marcus Berg (CF) - 5
His game got off to a worrying start as, from a great position, he spooned a shot almost impossibly high and wide. His passing wasn't any more effective. Subbed in the second half.
Ola Toivonen (CF) - 6
Aside from claiming the assist for Forsberg's winner, Toivonen had little impact in attack on his 32nd birthday. His powerful free-kick at the end of the match which was beaten away comfortably enough by Sommer.
SUBS
Martin Olsson - 7
His pace on the counter-attack caused concern for Michael Lang - and eventually led to the Swiss defender's late dismissal.
Emil Krafth - 6
Came on willing to receive the ball and carry it forward to take the burden off of Sweden's defence.
Isaac Kiese Thelin - N/A
Introduced right at the end of the game to replace the flagging Lustig.
