Zanni, a tall, technically gifted left or right sided defender or midfielder is said to be looking for a change after 15 years in Switzerland and believes Australia could reignite his career.

It’s believed Perth was in the mix for his services in recent days but it’s believed Glory dithered and now it appears the Swiss could be bound for Australia’s east coast.

It’s understood Brisbane Roar, Sydney FC, Melbourne Heart and Adelaide United have been alerted to the availability of the 30-year-old former FC Thun, Grasshoppers and FC Gallen player.

The player recently lost his spot at FC Basel but was a vice captain at the club. He also played under Ljubo Milicevic when the Australian captained FC Thun during his stint at the club between 2004 and 2006.

Zanni was a regular after joining Basel In 2005 making over 160 appearances for the St Jakob Park club mainly under Swiss manager Christian Gross.

However when new boss Thorsten Fink arrived at Scott Chipperfield's club in 2009, Zanni dropped back in the pecking order. It’s understood Zanni and the club may be close to parting ways thereby making the player a free agent.

Zanni made 23 appearances for Switzerland at U21 level.
