The Sky Blues are looking for a new marquee man following John Aloisi's departure and speculation was rife yesterday that Fowler was on his way to the Moore Park outfit.

Sydney insist no talks with Fowler's representatives have taken place at this stage but that is expected to change before too long.

Club CEO Edwin Lugt told Fox Sports that the club's shopping list included  a left midfielder a striker, and a player with high technical skills.

"And if you're looking at Robbie Fowler as a player he certainly fits that build," Lugt said.

"There is this factor of him (Fowler) bringing more bums on seats and that is obviously something we're focusing on."

Newcastle Jets have also been linked a move for Fowler.

A poll in today's Fairfax media revealed that 73 per cent of participants would be more likely to attend Sydney FC matches if Fowler's services were secured.
